At Ella Foundation, R&D is approached as an adventure rather than just seeking the truth. The foundation is still expanding its staff, and the planned core areas of focus are
- genomics
- proteomics
- structure-function analyses
- biodiversity
- molecular epidemiology
- host-pathogen interaction
- disease pathogenesis
- adjuvants
- vaccines, and
- antibacterials
Currently the foundation has groups working on antibacterials, recombinant biologicals, bacterial and viral vaccines, adjuvant strategies, virus-host interaction and viral pathogenesis, employing state of the art techniques to develop genetically engineered as well as conventional products, and to understand the mechanisms of disease caused by microorganisms. The foundation’s research program is set to strengthen areas of specialization in microbiology, and expand to other areas of biology.
